Tools and Hardware Reviews of Streamlight 61050 Trident Super-Bright LED/Incandescent Combo Head LampCustomer Review: good head lamp Summary: 4 Stars
I use this head lamp everyday on my job so it does get a little abuse. My only complaint is the plastic end cap that holds the battiers in cracks and breaks and I have to find some other rubber cap that I can place over the end to hold the battiers in. Most of my coworkers use the same head lamp and we all have the same complaint.
Customer Review: Light wear you need to use both Hands Summary: 4 Stars
I have used the Streamlight Trident Super-Bright Head Lamp to walk my two large black dogs at night. It provides light where I could not hold a flash light. It was also useful to focus light in small areas when I was building my home theater computer. The light can be tilted down and is easy to adjust and wear.
Customer Review: Not as good as I had hoped Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this headlight two months ago as a "Christmas Gift" for myself. Since then I've used it on several night hikes and also around the house for projects that involve low-light areas. (Putting insulation in the attic, and hanging a hook in the closet.)
The headset fits comfortably on my rather large head, and the elastic band keeps it in place. It does not flop around and adjusting the beam is a snap. The power switch is large enough to be easily used while wearing winter gloves. The unit appears to be well built and efficient; I'm still using the first set of batteries.
However, the headlight has several major issues. My biggest complaint is with the incandescent bulb. One might expect that a combo headlight's incandescent bulb would actually be brighter than the LED bulbs, but that's not the case with this headlight. In fact, you could argue that the LED's are brighter! This defeats the whole purpose of including the incandescent bulb, since the LED bulbs allow for much longer battery life when compared to incandescents.
In real world use, I never find myself using the underpowered incandescent bulb on this headlamp. As for the LED bulbs, their light is surprisingly diffuse. My brother-in-law bought a LED headlamp at a discount store for half the price of this model, and his LED bulbs produce a much more focused beam. While this really becomes a matter of personal preference, I found that after using both units on a night hike, I much prefered my brother-in-laws model!
Finally, the unit comes with an additional rubber strap. However, I could not figure out what the heck you are supposed to do with it. After puzzling over it for a good ten minutes, I let my wife puzzle over it, and she couldn't figure it out either. There simply does not seem to be a way to attach the rubber strap to the headlamp, and there are absolutely no documentation or instructions included in the package.
Bottom Line: Its a decent enough headlamp that I didn't return it, but I was really hoping for more.
Customer Review: too expensive for a piece of one-time-use plastic Summary: 2 Stars
1- To use rubber straps you have to completely destroy the elastic ones, because they are permanently attached to the headlamp base.
2- The plastic notch that is holding the lamp in the tilted position is flimsy.
3- No instructions.
Does not justify the price, I am very disappointed.
Edit: (1) above is not correct, you can remove elastic straps easily... But this is what the instructions for.
