Tools and Hardware Reviews of Streamlight 66118 Stylus Pro Black LED Pen Flashlight with HolsterCustomer Review: bright Summary: 5 Stars
this light is by far better than any i have owned, it is the first quality light i have bought, but for 20 bucks it.'s amazing, a mag light 10 times this size has 20 lumen's this has 24 it doesn't shine as far but for it.'s size it does great it has a strong focused beam then an out side beam, it can light a path 20 feet wide at 20 yards with the focused beam being the size of a 50 inch flat screen it lasts for ever and is tough as nails, i have dropped this thing so many times it stays in my pocket with keys and still looks new, my kid has launched it more than a few times and it is still functioning flawless, it is small and 20 bucks for a 6 inch pen light may seem unreasonable but you will be surprised, its 20 times better than these 5 dollar penlights at wally world. trust me don't waste money on cheap plastic or cheap made 20 dollar mag lights, i never payed any mind to my flashlights always blowing a bulb or flickering till they quit, i always thought all flashlights were that way i have bought a lot over the years and after a few months they all break or get wet and quit, thought it was normal. finally i found a dependable light i use it every night and day depending on where i work, u forget it is there till u need it. never know when your gonna break down or the power is gonna go out or when your gonna need to see to defend yourself, at home or abroad, it is well suited for all, it.'s twice as bright as a rayovac 9 volt lantern just give you a idea, and the light isn't disrupted the beam is pure and bright. GOD BLESS THE USA , AND OUR TROOPS
Customer Review: Great light for the money Summary: 5 Stars
I've gone through many pocket lights over the last ten years. This one is nearly perfect. I carry one every day and use it almost every day in my work. It could be a little shorter, I've had a few 2x AAA lights that were. Also, I wouldn't mind trading a little of the brightness for a slightly longer run time but that hasn't stopped me from buying four of these. I bought a replacement for my first one after it was lost (stolen?). That was the first time I replaced one of my lights with the same model. When I thought I had lost that replacement, I bought two more to have a spare on hand. The current one I've been carrying daily for more than 18 months.
It's handy for close work in and behind computers and server closets and the beam has enough throw for long runs in drop ceilings and in crawl spaces. Bigger lights are better outdoors but this one is very serviceable in that roll as well. The clip is strong and can be clipped to the brim of a cap for occasional hands free use. Finish on the clip appears to be powder coat. (New one's look a little different, maybe some kind of ED, which would be more durable.) Anodizing on the barrel is durable and holds up well to being knocked around. The finish on mine is showing a couple scratches and some wear around the bezel of the lens but I've sat on it everyday for more than a year.
The holster is a joke, just a cheap piece of stitched up nylon strapping, so don't expect much there. Fine as a cover for storing in glove box or console though.
Customer Review: Excellent little light Summary: 5 Stars
I've been carrying the Streamlight Stylus Pro and the Streamlight Microstream for a couple of years now, and I think I can safely say that these are excellent lights. I never leave home without one of them.
I compared them to my 4 C cell Maglight (non LED) and promptly got rid of my Maglight. The light cast by both the Stylus Pro and the Microstream were very comparable to the Maglight, but at an obvious weight advantage (not to mention battery consumption).
I started out carrying the Stylus Pro in my pocket, next to my trusty pocket knife, but, after about a year I bought myself a Microstream, since is fits so much better. Now the Stylus Pro sits on my night stand for when I need to check on noises or anything like that.
My wife liked the Stylus Pro so much that I bought her one too.
One other very positive note: One day at work I brushed by a pallet of boxes and caught the pocket clip of my Stylus Pro on one of them and it bent out really bad. It eventually broke. I called up Streamlight and told them what happened and they sent me two pocket clips free of charge (attached to two tail caps!). This is an awesome company and they provide excellent customer service.
I would STRONGLY suggest that if you're looking for a nice little flashlight, get yourself either one of these lights... Or heck, get one of each :-)
Customer Review: WHAT A GREAT LIGHT Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great flashlight.
I bought this light thinking I would get a okay light for a good price. I intended it to be a back up for a bigger and more powerful light. when i finally received the light from amazon I went and tried it out and was astounded how powerful it was it was the day time and i could see the beam from a fairly far distance. then i tested it in the dark it was very powerful and casted a wide light and then a more concentrated beam which i find really useful out side when hiking. another thing i noticed is the size of it , it is tiny. it easily fits in a pocket and stays there because of the clip.
when you are hiking or camping you need 2 basic things in your pocket a good knife or preferably a multi tool(i carry leatherman wave another great product) and a compact flashlight. the stylus pro is great for the job.
PROS
good price
very powerful
compact
sturdy
very well built
uses a common battery (3AAA)
the battery life it fairly good
light weight (only weight is the batteries and two small 3AAA batteries are not heavy)
CONS
the button which turns it on is not very easy to turn on
when switching battery's the clip makes it very hard to unscrew
this is a great light and recommend it good power for a great price. thanks for reading !!
Customer Review: Unexpected Environmental Test Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased one of these a couple of months ago. Liked it so well that I bought several more for Christmas Presents. They are awaiting wrapping, but this morning I conducted an unplanned test on mine.
Saturday is laundry day around here. The lady I live with cooks, I do laundry. Put a bunch of shirts, multi-colored winter weight, in the washing machine, and let it run while I went in to town for a newspaper and the mail.
Came back, emptied the washer, hung or dried the shirts as appropriate. Took a look into the washer tub to make sure I hadn't left anything behind. OH NO! My nice new flashlight, and a ball pen.
Checked the light. It worked! Opened it, dumped the batteries on a table, and looked inside the light. No visible water. Left the opened light and the batteries on a table, to make sure they are good and dry. They were the original batteries, still worked ... guess my 7.5 hrs is not up yet!
Am not sure I would go skin diving in shark infested waters, using the light to repel sharks, but I will make sure I have it with me on rainy days!
And the pen? It was a souvenir giveaway from the Rockingham County Fair, but with a Parker Gel ink refill. The pen WAS wet inside, but the refill had not leaked, and worked after I dried it off.
