Tools and Hardware Reviews of Streamlight 66118 Stylus Pro Black LED Pen Flashlight with Holster

Customer Review: A MUST HAVE PEN LIGHT!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a registered nurse and, if you are one too (or know one), then you know how horrible the "standard" penlights that we use for pupil checks can be. They always crap out on you, they burn out fast, the batteries die fast, etc. So, I googled "penlights" and I was eventually brought to amazon where I started doing some research. After reading all the reviews, I decided to give the stylus pro a shot and, I have to say, I am not disappointed whatsoever. Ok, granted that the brightness of the LED would temporarily blind any patient (sarcasm) if you're checking for pupil reactivity (you can get reactivity out of almost any pupil), but it works great for a "mini flashlight" as well. I work the night shift once a week at a nursing home and this makes it easier to go into patient's rooms without having to turn on lights and wake patients up. Plus, with the wonderful use of the push button, you don't have to worry about your penlight staying on (on accident) and the batteries draining.

The penlight itself is fully functional under many capacities. I love this penlight so much I keep showing it to my co-workers/peers and have gotten one other person to buy it (I've only had it a week!)... I highly recommend this penlight to anyone!

Customer Review: Perfect Pocket Light
Summary: 5 Stars

I work on cars for a living and this is one of the tools that lives in my pocket both at work and not. Its brighter than most flashlights that run on D cells and it seems to last forever. The push button and pocket clip work perfectly. The Light is solid and perfectly reliable. Not to mention that it is a solid metal case. Puts off NO heat in operation (unless you leave it on in a pocket). I strongly prefer the common AAAs that this uses over the less common lithium batteries that so many of the other Streamlights use. I also replace batteries more often because of damage then them wearing out. If you drop the flashlight glass first onto concrete it tends to dimple the positive terminals of the battery in so the flashlight flickers a bit. Aside from being dropped repeatedly on concrete in the shop it also took a bit of a field trip (20 miles) on the lower A arm (front suspension)of a GMC Jimmy, end result: polished through the anodizing and part way into the metal and chewed a hole in the rubber tail cap cover but it works as well as the day I bought it. I tried one of the "brighter"(100lm) Fenix penlights for comparison and that one though it started out nicer now flickers and is no brighter then the stream-light.

Customer Review: Good. Possibly best.
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been carrying one of these in my pocket for over a year and I use it for a few minutes every day at home and at work. I put it and the holster in my pocket to protect it. It seems like it has given me more light for the batteries used than any other flash light I have ever owned. I have owned a lot of flash lights. Most (except large Maglights) simply fail in some way. I have had two other brands of LED flashlights with electronics for light management and the electronic failed in a few months; this one is much tougher and costs less. One of those others was frustrating because it would burn batteries very fast and would go from bright to dead off in less than one second. The distance this one lights is impressive for it's size. I love it. I recently purchased two more. I wanted my wife to have one and it immediately became her favorite for it's small size. The other is just a spare because my previously favorite is no longer available. It is not the best light for all purposes; for example it will not stand up on the end. It is not the brightest but it tops for it's size. It is simply a fantastic small pocket flashlight to keep in a pocket or purse. I highly recommend this flashlight.

Customer Review: Fantastic multi-use light
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm a big fan of flashlights (what guy isn't?) and this one gets top marks for versatility. You can put it in the pen loop of most backpacks and bags, so it's always handy. I have a couple of these lights, one in each bag I carry regularly, and I use them often because they're right at hand. My high-dollar Surefire lights, on the other hand, are usually at home when I'm dressed for business.

Quality is top-notch. The barrel is metal and very durable. The switch can be used for either momentary light or click on/off. (It baffles me that many lights don't have proper switches that allow for momentary use.) It takes normal batteries, the LED will last forever... what's not to like?

Brightness is above-par given the size of the light. It's not a tactical light, but it's still plenty of light for most any utility work. Beam is even, no dark spots. Color temperature is on the cool side (typical for LEDs), I'd estimate 6,500K.

Overall, for an "always on you" light, this is the one. Leave your mini-mags in the car or toolbox. For a tactical light stick with the 6V lithium, 100+ lumen Surefires and similar.

Customer Review: Great light by a great business.
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this light about 8 months ago. I took it with me for my travels in Asia and India. It came in handy often for electrical outages, arriving in dormitory arrangements late at night, checking bed frames for bed bugs, etc. I absolutely used it everyday, and many times each day. I often left it running for half an hour at a time during outages. I'm still running on original batteries, though I have no idea how those things are still kicking, and its running just as bright as ever.

Recently I noticed a rip in the rubber end cap. No biggie, though I figured it may not serve my waterproof needs for my canoe trip this coming summer, so I emailed them asking if my lifetime warranty still applied, admitting that it traveled in my pocket every day for an extended period of time, and that I was probably to blame for any damage. They told me to send them my address and they would be happy to send me a replacement end cap and, "I'm happy to get your light back up & running for you!"

Excellent product! Incredible brightness and longevity in a very small, durable, well designed pen-light. Excellent customer service.
