Tools and Hardware Reviews of Streamlight 66118 Stylus Pro Black LED Pen Flashlight with Holster

Customer Review: Best and Brightest
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned this penlight for about 3 months. I am a mechanic and use it daily. It is by far the best light I have ever purchased. It has an INTENSE light output and last for weeks on fresh batteries. As a matter of fact, I have only replaced the batteries once since buying it. I don't use it as a steady light source, but for quick inspections in the dark recesses of the engine compartment and under vehicles. It is like the sun, it luminates a hyper bright focussed white light and with it's compact size and light weight it fits neatly in my shirt pocket. It has been subject to accidental drops, oil, grease, gas, solvents and still looks and performs like new. I have bought many small flash lights for my job, and this is 100% the best. My co-workers laughed when I said I had spent 20 bucks for a penlight, but now they all own at least one. No light compares to this little giant. I'm buying two more, one for my truck and one for the nightstand. Say goodby to the big bulky hip holster flashlights that eat batteries like they're going out of style, this light ROCKS!

Customer Review: This light can take some punishment
Summary: 5 Stars

This penlight is incredibly durable considering the cost. I have had flashlights that cost quadruple this amount that could take NO WHERE NEAR the amount of abuse this light has endured.

This light accidentally fell out of my pocket and decided to spend the night outside in the rain in 20 degree weather. The light still works. A SMALL SMALL SMALL amount of moisture did manage to get inside the lens but dried out and did not affect the quality of the light.

My 10month old often steals my light and I will figure this out when I hear him slamming it against the kitchen floor or refrigerator or find him drooling and teething all over it.

The light still works despite lots of usage and abuse; HOWEVER the button on top gets stuck on and off here and there and is definitely a concern.

Light quality is not bad by any means and the light definitely serves as a decent everyday carry light. Emergency light no, survival light, no, duty light no, EDC yes you should be ok.

Customer Review: Great Pocket Light
Summary: 5 Stars

I've carried a number of lights over the years (Fenix, Streamlight, etc), and this is the first one I've bought repeatedly. I've carried brighter (this one is 24 lumens for 7.5 hours), but this is a perfect balance between brightness and mobility. I find it much more comfortable than the common shorter, fatter lights out there. It takes up about the same space as a pen, and mine stays clipped in my pants pocket. I never even notice it until I need it and reach for it. The battery life is amazing too. I'm not using it all day, or even every day, and I've only changed the batteries once in over a year. I've beat this light up, scratched and worn the finish off in places, and have never had so much as a hiccup in function. This is a great light.

I also picked up the smaller version called microstream to keep in my camera case. It is exactly the same, but only one battery, so it's about half the length and not as bright or as long a battery life (up to 20 lumens for 1.5 hours).

Customer Review: Great Light / Nice Form Factor
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this to use as a penlight in my work as a physician since my trusty Mini Maglite with its twist on switching seems to often flicker and the bulb has dimmed. I knew both problems would be eliminated by this light and they were - in fact it works TOO well. By that I mean the light is so bright that at close range (such as looking at a patient's throat) it provides so much light that the reflection makes it challenging to see very much. This was a surprise to me. It does work great as a light to transilluminate when looking for a foreign body (this is something I expect to use it for regularly - a procedure in which light is shone in close proximity to a puncture wound - all too common in spring - to see if there is part of a thorn or other debris still in the wound that needs to be removed).

Anyway, for most purposes this light gets 5 stars (which is how I have deservedly rated it) but if you are looking for a medical penlight, keep the above in mind!

Customer Review: I love this light!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Let me first say that I have been using this flashlight for over a year now. The LED is EXTREMELY bright and the two AAA batteries last a considerable amount of time. Longer than I would have thought. The shirt clip is extremely useful. I put it in my shirt pocket every single day at work. If I'm pinned up under a dashboard with one hand on something, the other hand can quickly grab the light from my chest pocket and activate the light. SOOO useful. I have read several people saying the button is a little difficult to push. I have certainly NOT found this to be the case. Be it the momentary position or the constant on position. Button is perfect in my opinion. When my coworkers and I are both working on a vehicle, they find themselves always asking me for my light. They know it's quick and easy to put into action. I am seriously considering these lights as Xmas present for all of them.:-)
